Eddie Van Halen Undergoes Emergency Surgery, Van Halen Tour Postponed

Bad news for Van Halen fans in Japan. The band just announced on their Facebook page that guitarist Eddie Van Halen underwent an emergency surgery for a severe bout of Diverticulitis. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the ailment, Diverticulitis is a relatively common digestive disease in the large intestine, which causes abdominal pain and makes it hard to perform on-stage for a rock concert.

The procedure went well and no further surgeries are needed. He’s expected to have a full recovery within 4 - 6 months. Despite their tumultuous track record, the statement conclude by saying the band looks forward to seeing and playing for their fans in 2013.
