Wilco and Yo La Tengo made up an impressive double bill at Keyspan Park in Coney Island last night (July 13). The show is one of the biggest in Wilco’s itinerary to support the recently released Wilco (The Album), and they made it a special night by ushering on some special guests.
Twitter addict Ed Droste from Grizzly Bear was among the musicians who joined Wilco for the encore of Woody Guthrie's "California Stars.” Droste and Leslie Feist (who also chimed in on the encore) clearly enjoyed the evening—the Grizzly Bear singer has posted a photo of them taking a white-knuckle ride on the infamous Cyclone rollercoaster. Yes, even indie rock stars can be tempted to purchase an over-priced photo at the end of an amusement park ride.
Yo La Tengo also reappeared for the encore, and Matador Records has tweeted a number of pictures from their set, including shots of Ira Kaplan throwing baseballs into the crowd. Clearly this was a very well documented/photographed event.
