"Earth Song" Tribute to Michael Jackson Planned at Grammys

· by

The Grammys are being staged this Sunday (Jan. 31) and you can read the list of predictions by Prefix’s resident clairvoyant, Ivan Mitchell, here.  Speculation is gathering about how the organizers of the awards will handle the death of Michael Jackson, and now rumors are emerging that the King of Pop’s kids will perform at the ceremony.

Prince Michael, Prince Michael II and Paris Jackson would presumably all perform one of their father’s songs, and their guardian, Katherine Jackson, is allegedly in talks to make this happen. The potential for disaster here seems great, although it can’t be worse than the “Earth Song” tribute that’s already planned, which will feature Celine Dion and Usher.

"Michael first unveiled his legendary moonwalk at the Grammys, so it's only right they all go out with a tribute,” said an unnamed source in this ContactMusic article. The Grammys will take place at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles—the same venue where an all-star tribute was staged after Jackson’s passing.

Michael Jackson did not first do the moonwalk on the Grammys. It was on the Motown 25 special of 1983.

I think it's wonderful that the family is talking about the kids going to this tribute.. This will mean so much to them as they have never seen the music industry up close and to see what there father has done for the music industry. It will mean so much to the fans and his friends. Michael never wanted to step in the way of his kids dreams! I'm glad to see that they might get the chance to be heard.

Somehow I don't think Michael would like his kids performing at the Grammy's. With respect to Michael and how he was parenting them, I highly doubt he would approve of a performance. If it would be that family members were on stage to accept the award and they were a part, that seems to be more appropriate.

Its appropriate for his kids to accept the award if they are up to it. But singing and danceing, I don't think so. Don't think Michael would approve. Who's best to accept the award other than his children anyway? This years grammy ceremony is sure to be a memorable one. Long live the King of Pop!
