Early Spoon Material to get Re-release

We here at Prefix would like to take a moment to give Merge Records proper recognition. Truly, this label is doing Gods work. Alright, maybe not quite, but the people behind it are going above and beyond to ensure that music geeks like you and I are a little fatter in the wallet, and thats something!

Much like the first three Dinosaur Jr albums and the first Arcade Fire record before it, Spoons debut album, Telephono, is getting the re-release treatment on July 25, thus saving people from having to shell out big bucks to vultures on eBay. The news gets better though. Not only will you get the debut, but the follow-up EP Soft Effects as well, packaged together in a special 2XCD slipcase. All tracks get the remaster treatment for this release, keep the original artwork and the video for Not Turning Off is even included. Oh and the price? The same as youd pay for a single disc. Yeah, we know, we think its pretty unbelievable too.

What if you already have both Telephono and Soft Effects? Well, we have Spoon news for you as well. The band has small set of tour dates scheduled this summer.  Heres the specifics:

07-30 Chicago, IL – Pitchfork Music Festival

    08-11 Berkeley, CA – Greek Theatre *

    08-12 Berkeley, CA – Greek Theatre *

08-13 Los  Angeles, CA – Greek Theatre *

08-14 Los  Angeles, CA – Greek Theatre *

08-15 San  Diego, CA Bayside *

    * with Death Cab for Cutie and Mates of State

You already have both releases in question, and you dont live in Chicago or California? Well, you do have access to a computer right? (yes, that was rhetorical) Then check out the recent video for The Two Sides of Monsieur Valentine.
