Eagles Of Death Metal Frontman Preps Solo Debut, ‘Honkey Kong’

If you have listened to his work as part of blues/cock rock outfit Eagles of Death Metal, then you already know what to expect from Jesse “Boots Electric” Hughes. Dude loves him some over-the-top sexual references, dance-friendly beats, and hamming it up for the cameras. But apparently dude also loves him some synthesizers and that fondness is at the heart of his solo debut, Honkey Kong. It was produced by Tony Hoffer, who has worked with Beck and Depeche Mode, and co-written with Money Mark, known for his keyboard skills with the Beastie Boys and many others.

Honkey Kong drops Sept. 20 on Dangerbird Records. You can watch the album trailer below. And if you live in the Los Angeles area and want to catch Boots Electric live to hear what he’s cooking up, head to Paper Ships at Exchange LA on Aug. 18.
