Swedish rockers Dungen are known for their wailing guitars and 60’s psychedelic pastiche, but in debuting their new album, 4, at New York City’s La Poisson Rouge last week, they showed they also had a mellow side.
Guitarist and lead signer Gustav Ejstes eschewed his electric guitar to alternate between an acoustic and baby grand piano. Percussionist Johan Holmegard laid back in the cut a bit, providing suitably soft accompaniment and sweet harmonies. The material they debuted will be released September 30, on Kemado Records. [Fader]
