Dungen releasing new album 4 in the fall

Swedish prog rockers Dungen haven’t been wasting time trimming their flowing locks and buying comfortable sweaters since the release of Tio Bitar last year. In fact they have a new album ready to go, and it’s due for release later this year.

Gustav Ejstes’s band will release the confusingly titled 4 on Kemado Records in the fall. The record is actually the band’s fifth album, although Dungen 1 and Dungen 2 shared some of the same material. Perhaps would have been a better title? Ejstes is expected to bring Dungen over to the U.S. for an October/November tour to support the album. [Pitchfork]

I'm psyched. I mean 'Panda' is pretty much their illest, unparalleled jam, but in general they've got such a great/weird melodic sensibility they often manage to strike that rare combination of being unpredictable but beautiful at the same time.
