Drake Vs. Walgreens And Macy's Over Use Of "YOLO"

It seems as though both Walgreens and Macy's have been hawking goods this holiday season with the term "YOLO." While some kids might've been happy to find a Snoopy t-shirt with the term for "You Only Live Once" plastered on their clothes this Chistmas, Drake was not amused.

On his Instagram account, the Canadian YMCMB artist posted the following:

"Walgreens....you gotta either chill or cut the cheque"

"Macy's...same goes for you.

While it may be unlikely that Drake was the first person to ever coin the term "YOLO," he was definitely the celebrity that brought the term to the forefront of popular culture. In any event it'll be interesting to see if anything comes of this. The situation could end up being similiar to the time Pat Riley trademarked the term "three-peat." Riles actually coined the term when he was coaching the Lakers, but was able to collect royalty fees when the Bulls won three championships in a row in the mid-90's. You'd assume Drake's handlers had applied for a trademark on the term "YOLO," but those details have not been released as of yet. [HT]
