Sure, Drake's knee injury forced him to cancel several live appearances. But the up-and-coming rapper thinks the downtime may have worked out in his favor. "I don't want to jinx it, but things are going so well on this little break until surgery that I just feel like it was in the plan," asserted the Canadian artist.
The MC also claimed that spending the extra time in his hometown of Toronto has helped him with his songwriting. "I finally made peace with my city," he stated. "And that was important for me to start this album, because I didn't feel peace here. I was starting to come home and feel like everybody was staring at me weird. I was starting to feel a little paranoid. A couple things will happen, people will try to check on you. And you just get to the point where it's like, 'I don't feel comfortable at home.' That's a bad thing, especially when Toronto inspires so much of the music that I make."
Drake recently finished shooting a video for "Successful" while in Toronto and is scheduled to undergo surgery in September. [MTV News]
