While most major rap releases have had their release dates pushed up in recent years, usually to combat the album being leaked online, backpack rapper and Degrassi: The Next Generation alum Drake is instead pushing back the release date of his forthcoming debut full-length, Thank Me Later. Originally slated for a May 25 release, the disc will now be dropping June 15 to give time for "finishing touches." It's kind of a strange move to be pushing the release back only a week after announcing it, but hopefully Drake and company will be doing good work, like improving the awkward transitions on "Over."
In other Drake related news, dude debuted a new track from Thank Me Later yesterday, the opening date of his Away From Home Tour. The track is called "Fireworks" and is produced by Noah "40" Shebib and reportedly features Kings of Leon. Peep some fairly decent fan footage of the track below. [Rap Up, NY Mag]
Can't wait for us to post in a few weeks or so that it's delayed again.
