Now that Chinese Democracy has a tracklist, a release date, and Best Buy is taking pre-orders, I know you’re thinking to yourself, “Self, I wonder if Dr Pepper is planning on honoring that promise of giving everyone in America a Dr Pepper if Chinese Democracy is released this year, because that would be sweet.” (Yes, you think in hyper-links.)

Apparently, Dr Pepper’s representatives (I guess they’d be called Administrator Pepper or something…hospital joke) are indeed going to be giving everyone in the U.S. a Dr Pepper if Chinese Democracy comes out this year. The key word being “if”—apparently the Dr. Pep folks think that Best Buy is blowing smoke because:

So, Dr Pepper will give you a can of soda if one Axl Rose comes out and says the album is actually coming out. Maybe Dr Pepper has diagnosed (I apologize) something fishy about the Best Buy release date. Maybe Chinese Democracy isn’t coming out at all, and Best Buy just wants to get everyone excited for a 2013 release. [MTV]
