Last weekend, Nicki Minaj canceled her Hot 97's Summer Jam performance after DJ Peter Rosenberg slammed her single, "Starships," during the festival. Though this comment not only led Lil Wayne to pull Minaj, but all of the Young Money acts from the bill, the DJ refused to apologize for his words.
It may seem like siding with Minaj would be the right thing to do, former MTV VJ Doctor Dre seemed to think otherwise. Check out what he said to Gigwise.com below.
“First of all, Nicki Minaj was the only one who ruined 55,000 fans’ expectations of the night,” said Dr Dre in a recent interview. “It has nothing to do with Rosenberg. You go out there and you perform for your fans.”
The rapper had equally harsh words for the Hot 97 DJ as well, adding: “We have too many what I call ‘semi-super experts’ who always try to redefine hip-hop from its infancy. She’s an artist whether I like her or I don’t like her. My daughter loves her and thinks that she’s the world, and that’s the case.”
