Donate to Jason Molina's Medical Fund, Get Awesome Live Album

It's been a while since we've heard from Jason Molina. After releasing the hauntingly great 2009 album, Molina and Johnson, with Centro-matic's Will Johnson, Molina cancelled the tour that was supposed to follow, and since then there hasn't been much news from him.

Well, it turns out he needs our help. According to the Secretly Canadian website, Molina has spent the past two years in and out of hospitals and rehab centers dealing with some serious health concerns. And while Molina and those around him seem hopeful that he can fully recover and return to music soon, like so many of us Jason Molina has no health insurance. So, as if being very sick weren't bad enough, he has accrued some substantial medical bills and is reaching out for help.

A page has been set up for people to make donations to help Molina out, and if you do you'll be rewarded with a full Magnolia Electric Co. album, recorded at Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, North Carolina in 2007. So in care you weren't just into helping a guy in need, now you've got some seriously excellent live music as incentive to donate.

Head over to Bandcamp now to sample the live album, or just go right to the donation site. There you can read the full statement from Molina's family and, hopefully, send a few extra bucks his way if you've got them to spare.

And, in case you need reminding of how good those guys are live:
