J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Star Trek sequel may be titled Star Trek Into Darkness. Paramount Pictures has not confirmed this new title, but Coming Soon reports that the domain names www.startrekintodarkness.com and www.startrekintodarknessmovie.com were both registered on Sept 6 by an anonymous domain registry service.
The anonymous service used to register the domain names was previously utilized by Paramount for other recent URLs promoting their upcoming films like G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The film has been referred to as Star Trek 2 or Untitled Star Trek Sequel up until now, though Abrams planned on the official title having a subtitle to avoid confusion with Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn.
While the title is unconfirmed, what is known about the sequel is that Chris Pine, Karl Urban, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg and Anton Yelchin will be reprising their roles. Benedict Cumberbatch, Robocop’s Peter Weller and Alice Eve will also be appearing in the film, which is slated for a May 17, 2013 release.
