Doherty incenses normally staid English soccer fans with song

That crazy Pete Doherty is at it again. This time he incensed a group of Everton fans at a surprise gig by playing “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” the theme song of the rival club Chelsea. Doherty soldiered with the tune, despite being pelted with drinks and boos. Though the partisan fans probably were just annoyed at the antics of Doherty, who is an avid fan of Queens Park Rangers, at least he’s been coherent enough lately to play a gig and also aware that there was some fun to be had with the crowd. The gig was one of the few Doherty is playing while putting finishing touches on his first solo album, which is still targeted for a fall release. [NME]

I was joking, but now I'm making it a part of the language.

Everton's rival is Liverpool not Chelsea. "You'll Never Walk Alone" is a Liverpool song not a Chelsea one. You can even hear Liverpool fans sing it at the end of Pink Floyd's "Fearless". Though I am sure Everton fans hate Chelsea, they hate Liverpool more.

What's up with Pete Doherty signing a song from a musical?
