Well, will listening to Mozart make you smarter or what? Turns out it won't. Well, no, the thing is, you can become just as "smart" if you listened to, say, Justin Bieber or ate some chocolate, Gizmodo reports. At least, that's the word according to University of Toronto psychology professor Glenn Schellenberg. He says that there are many different experiences that could improve cognition, including the aformentioned grubbing on of chocolate, because they too release dopamine in the brain.
Further diving into this matter was a team of Austrian researchers, who analyzed nearly 40 different attempts to replicate the so-called "Mozart effect." Their findings? A hilariously telling paper titled "Mozart Effect Schmozart Effect." Apparently the people who listened to Mozart before taking a test performed similarly when compared to those who listened to nothing.
So, is the "Mozart effect" officially debunked now?
