It's been almost a week, but DJ Shadow has received a formal apology from Mansion Nightclub in Miami. Last Friday, Shadow was asked to step down from his own headlining set after his selections were deemed "too futuristic" by the club's promoter. Now after fan outrage and a good deal of negative publicity, Mansion has issued the following apology:
"We offer our most sincere apologies to DJ Shadow and his fans for his set being cut short at Mansion this past weekend. This error should not have happened and will not happen again, especially as we pride ourselves on creating an environment that cultivates and respects innovators such as DJ Shadow. We have learned a lot from this error and made changes within our organization to ensure that Mansion’s vision, and the vision of our guests, will never be compromised again."
While it doesn't make any sense to pull a headlining act in the middle of their set, at least Mansion had the good sense to make a public apology.
Fans of DJ Shadow can catch him one last time on his current tour in support of his best of album Reconstructed at a hometown show at Fort Mason Center in San Francisco on Dec. 29.
