Dizzee Rascal, R. Kelly, BLK JKS, Others Make Music For The World Cup

It’s hard to believe that it was already 12 years ago when Ricky Martin tore the World Cup a new one with his Spanglish stadium anthem “The Cup of Life.” Honestly, when I hear “World Cup Soundtrack,” this is what I think about.  It’s a good song, seriously. Whatever, I don’t care.

Anyway, this year’s soundtrack is called Listen Up! The Official 2010 World Cup Album, and it features artists like R. Kelly, Pitbull, Matisyahu and apparent official soundtrack ambassador Shakira. You can stream parts of the whole album here, where you can also see Shakira do the “Waka Waka” with a bunch of South African kids. Fozzie Bear will not be happy.

Among others contributing World Cup anthems not on the soundtrack is a Dizzee Rascal cover of Tears for Fears’ hit “Shout,” Dave Campos and Martin PK’s “Stand as One,” and South African natives BLK JKS will kick off the tournament at 2pm EST Thursday on ESPN 2.
