Dizzee Rascal Compares Himself to Michael Jackson

Grime star Dizzee Rascal barely merits a mention in the U.S. these days, but he has become a huge pop star in his native U.K. Dizzee has now had three number one singles on the other side of the Atlantic, and sales of his new full-length album, Tongue N’Cheek, are expected to be impressive.

"I'm going to be big like Michael Jackson," Rascal said in a recent interview, the fame clearly going to his head. In the past, he has said that there’s no reason he "couldn't be as big as Britney Spears.” Clearly the grime scene that spawned Dizzee is long behind him now.

"I made hardcore music and that came kind of easy - it was what I knew,” he said. “But it was a challenge for me to make a big pop tune. Parts of me are still the same person as back then, but I'm older and my situation's different. A lot of that is through traveling, doing festivals and trying to honestly reflect what I see in front of me."
