Dirty Projectors hire/record/tour

That thar primary color-lovin' gentleman is David Longstreth, the Yale dropout behind Brooklyn's Dirty Projectors. The dude is a mad genius, and slippery as a half-used bar of soap. Over the past five years he's tracked gorgeous solo acoustic songs in his bedroom, recorded art songs with a full orchestra behind him, written an acid-fried concept album featuring Don Henley as the protagonist, contracted out an even more acid-friend DVD version of same, and released an EP of tunes that somehow jam together Björk, new wave, the blues and West African polyrhythms. Oh plus the Dirty Projectors lineup changes like every five hours. Considering that Longstreth's dad was a chameleon and his mom was a mood ring, it's no surprise that whenever there's something to report about the Dirty Projectors, there's a lot to report. Here's the latest and the realest:
1) Dirty Projectors have a new team of femme singers on board, Angel Deradoorian (also in Inlets and Secret Surprise and the Latter Day Saints), and Amber Coffman (formerly of San Diego math-rockers Sleeping People) .
2) Dirty Projectors recently recorded a wonderous suite of songs for Daytrotter.
3) Dirty Projectors are headed out to Europe on tour, and also playing a few scattered shows in New York. Tour dates after the jump.
