Grammy-nominated DJ/producer Diplo is getting ready to release his first book, 128 Beats per Minute. Subtitled as "Diplo's Visual Guide for Music, Culture, and Everything In Between," the work opens with the sentence, "Seven years, thirty-two countries, sixty thousand photos, and a million miles later, here is what we've been doing." Shane McCauley, former assistant to photographer Annie Leibowitz, captured the moments that will make up the book, with each country given its own section. Each gallery of pictures--from Russia, Trinidad, Israel and elsewhere--will come with a playlist devised by Diplo as well as his impression of that region's people and culture. Should be cake for a man who's written a couple things for Vanity Fair online. No exact date is set, but 128 Beats, whose forward was penned by fashion designer Alexander Wang, is looking at an April release via Universe Publishing. I'm excited for this.
