J Mascis, Lou Barlow, and Murph will head down the U.S. east coast this April to bring their extremely potent and incomparably influential brand of ear-bleeding country to those fans that live outside of their Massachusetts home base, setting up shop in a flurry of mainly Southern venues. Maybe J will pull out his acoustic “Hickory Wind” cover in South Carolina if the fans scream for it loudly enough?
If the tour itself wasn’t enough, Dinosaur Jr has also announced that every fan who purchases tickets to any of the upcoming shows will be given a free 7-inch single or digital download of two songs recorded during the band’s recent Pitchfork.tv feature -- the first of which is a brand new track entitled “I Don’t Wanna Go There,” and the second being the live favorite from the band’s first incarnation, “Tarpit.”
The group is currently recording their next album, their second since reforming in 2005, due this summer on Jagjaguwar.
