Diddy Named World’s Highest-Paid Celebrity

The Bad Boy brought in $130 million last year

When a young Sean John Combs was fired from Uptown Records in 1993 and set off to establish his own label – Bad Boy Entertainment – with his only asset being a young Christopher “Biggie” Wallace, few could have imagined that almost 25 years later the rap mogul would become the world’s highest paid celebrity.

According to Forbes, Diddy brought in $130 million in a 12-month period, primarily due to his clothing label Sean John (which Combs sold one-third of for an estimated value of $70 which accounts for a big chunk of this past year’s income), his equal-share venture with the vodka brand Ciroc, and of course, Bad Boy Entertainment which had their “Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour.”

The legend made it clear that he has no intention of slowing down anytime soon, as he posted this on Instagram:

Later this month, Diddy will be premiering a documentary entitled Can’t Stop Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story. In a recent interview with Billboard, Diddy spoke about giving back to the community by way of a charter school he just opened in Harlem among others charities. “Donating a million dollars to my alumni, I’m really, really passionate about that. At the same time, I think that when my people see people that look like us on that list, in Forbes, handling business, it’s really the right way to get inspired so I make no apologies for being No. 1 on the list…It’s something that I’m proud of. I work hard.”

A handful of musicians joined Diddy near the top of the list. Beyoncé came in second with $105 million on the back of her “Formation World Tour.” Drake came in 4th with $94 million and with only $2 million less was The Weeknd. Considering the dude released his free mixtape House of Balloons only 6 years ago, this number seems wildly impressive. Of course, also making the top 10 was Coldplay, because they know how to print money.

Here’s a look at Forbes entire top 100 list with all 37 of the musicians in bold.
