Diddy must have something on a programming executive at MTV because he just announced a new reality show for the network, titled Making His Band, that finds hopeful musicians competing for the right to back Diddy up when he performs his new album live. The show's trailer promises the standard competitive music show tropes (people celebrating the large house they're living in, throwing each other in the pool, probably saying "I'm not here to make friends") coupled with a look behind Diddy's "creative" process as he records a new album. I'm betting it'll be better than Making the Band 4, but worse than Making the Band 2 (and probably on par with Making the Band 3). But none of those are better than the Chappelle's Showskit. Making His Band airs on July 27. [Real Talk NY]
It's not a matter of Diddy having something on anyone at MTV - his shows have generally been some of the network's most successful during their runs.
