Did Spike swipe from Guitar World's Worst Solo List?

Yesterday, we posted about Spike's music critic's list of seven of the worst guitar solos in rock history. Today, Guitar World mysteriously decided to put online an archived article from 2004. Whaddya know, it's a list of the 100 worst guitar solos, and right there in the top ten, it contains two of the same solos Spike found.

Both Spike and Guitar World single out the solos on Lenny Kravitz's "American Woman" and Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It." Coincidence?

Whatever the case, the Guitar World feature goes further in depth and doesn't mince words singling out guitar gods like Carlos Santana ("The Game of Love"), Jerry Garcia ("Not Fade Away") and Slash (Michael Jackson's "Black or White") for lousy chops. Even Jimi Hendrix gets taken to task for Isle of Wight mangling of the "Foxey Lady" solo -- although they do mention his split trouser seams as a reason for that. 

In case you don't feel like trudging through the Guitar World list, other lowlights include solos on Journey's "Faithfully," Bruce Springsteen's "Badlands," Slipknot's "Spit It Out" and Blind Melon's "No Rain." By the way, Poison's C.C. DeVille tops the list with his solo called "Guitar Solo" from their 1991 live release.
