Thank the disco-gods for DFA! The Tim Goldworthy + James Murphy-owned label has announced plans to reissue the long out-of-print 12-inch single from Justine and the Victorian Punks. Arguably, the first “disco-punk” release, Justine and the Victorian Punks was a collaboration between New York-based conceptual artist Collette and disco-composer Peter Gordon.
The twelve-inch, orginally released in 1979, includes two tracks, “Beautiful Dreamer” and “Still You,” and was recorded one night at Electric Lady Studios with Jay Burnett who went on to recorded Afrika Bambaataa’s Planet Rock. DFA will reissue the record on Nov. 9 and offer it in vinyl-form and for digital download.
