Denver-based troupe DeVotchKa, whose amorphous musical style has encompassed elements ranging from pop and Gypsy to polka and mariachi for over a decade, will return with their fifth album via Anti- on Feb. 15.
Dubbed 100 Lovers, the record again features the production handiwork of Craig Schumacher (Calexico, Neko Case) and was completed in the Arizona desert. Frontman Nick Urata, who has been moonlighting as a composer for film in recent years, handling scoring duties for Little Miss Sunshine and the upcoming I Love You Errol Morris among others, says in a statement that the "ideal way someone would describe us would be romantic, exotic or hopefully just plain good."
DeVotchKa's latest will feature 12 tracks in all and include guest percussions from Mauro Refosco of Thom Yorke's side project, Atoms For Peace, and members of Calexico.
