The first annual Moogfest is set to occur in North Carolina over the Halloween weekend in October, with MGMT, Massive Attack, Big Boi, Hot Chip, Panda Bear and many other impressive names set to appear. The event has been scheduled partly as a way to pay tribute to Bob Moog, whose analog synths have decorated an unfathomable amount of pivotal records over the years.
A just-announced addition to the festival is an award for headliners Devo, who will receive the Moog Innovation Award for their tireless “genre-defying work.” Analog synth fans will cast envious glances at the band when they pick up the award, mainly because they will receive a special, one-of-a-kind synthesizer to mark the ocassion.
Further details on Moogfest, which takes places in Asheville, NC, over the weekend of Oct. 29-31, are available here.
