As the hotly contested presidential election moves into its final month, the music industry continues to throw its support behind Barack Obama. My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James will take the stage solo for shows in Chicago on Wednesday and MMJ's hometown Louisville, Kentucky on October 16. The Obama influence swings all the way from jam bands to the New Wave, however, as genre godfathers and hat conniseurs Devo will be taking the stage in Akron, Ohio at a benefit for the Summit County Democratic Party. Also taking place on October 17 in New York City is Obamarama, featuring Anti-Pop Consortium, Takka Takka, and Dragons of Zynth, plus DJ sets by French Kicks and Cassettes Won't Listen. All proceeds from the show will benefit the Obama victory campaign. [Pitchfork]
