Rupert Grint is best known for his role in the Harry Potter series as Ron Weasley. But now that the magical franchise is done with after eight enormous movies, its stars are finally signing on to do other work. Grint, interestingly, was just cast in The Drummer, the forthcoming biopic about Beach Boys drummer and founding member Dennis Wilson. The studio, Unclaimed Freight Productions, has said the film will begin shooting June 15.
The 23-year-old British actor is set to play Stan Shapiro, an intern at the William Morris talent agency who later became a close friend to Wilson. Director and co-writer Randall Miller says that Grint's character is "the window into Dennis' world. He is the everyman who witnesses the train wreck." Also cast in the film are Chloe Grace Mortez, who recently starred in Martin Scorsese's Hugo, and Aaron Eckhart, who will take on the task of playing Wilson himself. [OTRC]
