Def Jam Rapstar Is On Track For October Release

If mashing buttons on a plastic guitar isn't your idea of fun, how about dropping some science into a microphone peripheral? 4mm Games is hoping that Def Jam Rapstar will fill that particular niche in the music gaming community. Now instead of robotically thumping out "Wannabe" with six Cobain avatars, those with no musical talent can test their vocal rhythm skills on the following tracks, among the forty promised for the final release:

Dr. Dre featuring Snoop Dogg "Nuthin' But a 'G' Thang"
Kanye West featuring Jamie Foxx "Gold Digger"
Lil' Wayne "A Milli"

Biz Markie, "Just A Friend"
Drake, "Best I Ever Had"

While the song selection is good, if a little long in the tooth, but this probably appropriate as the main audience of these games are people who are too old or encumbered with responsibility to actually, you know, be in a band or rap.
