Deerhunter set to release new album Microcastle in October

The ever-busy Bradford Cox may have produced one of the standout albums of the year with his Atlas Sound project. But that hasn’t stopped him from resuming his day job with Deerhunter, who are releasing the long awaited Microcastle on Kranky (in the U.S.) and 4AD (in the U.K.) on October 28.

Fans who can’t wait that long needn’t worry, as the band’s blog has a wealth of new material, photos, mix tapes, and demos to keep listeners occupied. There’s even a demo of a new Deerhunter track that Cox has worked on since the recording of Microcastle.

Microcastle was recorded at the Rare Book Room in Brooklyn, New York, and was recorded by the four core members of Deerhunter-- Bradford Cox, Lockett Pundt, Joshua Fauver, and Moses Archuleta. Longtime Atlanta buddy Cole Alexander from the Black Lips performs guest vocals on the track “Saved By Old Times,” and the two bands have a show together at McCarren Park Pool on August 3rd.  Full details of the Atlas Sound and Deerhunter dates, and the Microcastle tracklisting, are listed below.

I'm excited for this for three reasons: 1) The cover looks like Led Zep's Physical Graffiti; 2) I have no way of keeping up with their prolific bloggings; 3) This will make Kranky a bunch of cash.
