Rock and roll theme park planned for outside Tucson

Nostalgic boomer consumerism never sleeps. Plans are on the table for a rock and roll theme park named Decades to be built outside of Tucson, Arizona. As with Disneyland's different concept areas, Decades would be divided into different regions based on...yes...different decades, and the musical trends associated with them. More details after the jump... '80s Land would accentuate the rise of music videos, while '60s Land would focus on the British Invasion and Motown. Other park attractions would include the Grand Funk Railroad, Hotel California, a Beach Boys wave pool, and the "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On" Wooden Coaster. In addition to the park, developers want to build a 17,000-seat concert stadium, a high-rise hotel, and plenty of retail space. These lofty plans still need to get the go-ahead from local government officials. So if you know any of those folks and believe in a little human trait called "dignity," pick up the phone. Like, now.
If all of this schlock sounds eerily familiar, you may be remembering that the people behind the Hard Rock Cafe franchise are planning on building a similar theme park near Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Decades hopes to be the Western answer to the Eastern Hard Rock Park, the Disneyland to its Disney World, the one corner of hell to its other corner of hell.
