Ben Gibbard is pushing forty, guys. This makes me unfathomably sad for some reason. Maybe it's because I remember pining over teenage love to We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes (I was an emo kid, for real). But Death Cab for Cutie keep pushing out albums with military consistency; even if they're not hitting grand slams, I wouldn't call any Death Cab album out there a strikeout, either. The latest, Codes and Keys, is due May 31. To the left we've got the confirmed cover art, which makes me think of either drunk dialing people at two in the morning or Fight Club, depending on which was more recent. And below we've got both the track list and a solo piano performance of the title track, which Gibbard recently performed at San Francisco's Noise Pop festival. You can grab the entirety of that performance at TwentyFour Bit. [Stereogum]
