Garage rock staple Dead Moon is packing it in after twenty years together. The Oregon-based band posted the following message on Sub Pop's website yesterday: "After 20 yrs, Dead Moon is retiring. It has been a journey we will always treasure and feel that a worldwide family has emerged in its place. Dead Moon became much bigger than the band itself, it became a DIY underground hopeful for a lot of people. The candle is still burning! --Fred Cole" The band didn't waste any time in taking down its website, so this seems to truly be the end. R.I.P. Dead Moon.
This band was really cool - I don't know if you'd like them, though, Matt. They're a northwest garage rock band, front man had a pretty high voice, they used to press their own vinyl. Give 'em a go: http://subpoprecords.imeem.com/music/ava8aSvN/dead_moon_night/
