David Byrne/Brian Eno to (sorta) tour

OK, here comes the old good news/bad news express. You may have already heard that David Byrne and Brian Eno are getting set to release their first album as a duo since the groundbreaking 1981 record My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts. Well, now there's a tour in the works as well, but before you get too excited, be aware of a couple of caveats.

1. Thus far, only three dates (GA, TX, CA) have been announced for the fall.

2. According to the most recent update by the relevant publicists, guess who will not be appearing on the tour? Hint: his name rhymes with "Ryan Reno."

If you can figure out how it makes sense to mount a tour promoting a Byrne/Eno album without Eno, (and at last report, at least one of the dates was still billed as featuring the music of Byrne and Eno) don't hesitate to enlighten us. Half of Simon & Garfunkel will also be very interested in the theory...

Tour dates:

09.20.08 Atlanta, GA

09.26.08 Austin, TX: Austin City Limits Festival

10.04.08 Santa Barbara, CA

Do producers now always have to tour with the acts they are producing to make it legitimate? Can you fee Brian Eno hanging himself in the 3,421st frame of Stop Making Sense?
