David Bowie's Decade-Old Storytellers Session Getting Released, For Some Reason

Intrigue and myth-building have not only been important to David Bowie's career, you could argue that they are his career. So when Bowie did VH1's Storytellers in 1999, the anticipation was great that he'd break his own walls and be forthcoming about his biggest hits. He wasn't.

For some reason, Virgin/EMI is releasing the decade-old Storytellers episode on July 14, in CD, DVD, and Digital formats, because, apparently, the time is ripe for this kind of release. Bowie has been out of the limelight for quite a while, popping up mostly when TV on the Radio or Arcade Fire have asked him out.

The DVD and digital copies will feature four unaired tracks from the show: "Survive," "I Can't Read," "Always Crashing in the Same Car" and "If I'm Dreaming My Life." The CD, for whatever reason, doesn't feature those tracks.

Here's the track list. Again, David Bowie: VH1 Storytellers comes out on July 14.

01 Life on Mars?
02 Rebel Rebel [truncated]
03 Thursday's Child
04 Can't Help Thinking About Me
05 China Girl
06 Seven
07 Drive-In Saturday
08 Word on a Wing
09 Survive
10 I Can't Read
11 Always Crashing in the Same Car
12 If I'm Dreaming My Life
