David Bowie Releasing 'Golden Years' Remix App

· by

“Is David Bowie dying?” asked the Flaming Lips and Neon Indian recently. We don’t know the answer to that, but while he’s alive and well the legendary singer is still dipping his toe into the tech market—his latest venture is an iPhone app that allows you to remix his classic “Golden Years” single from Station to Station.

Eight stem files will be made available via the app, which will include Bowie's lead vocal, bass, guitar, harmonium, 12-string guitar, drums, percussion (including blocks, congas, claps) and backing vocals. Producer Harry Maslin, who worked on the original recording, has prepared the stems for release, which will be issued on June 6.

This milking of Station to Station continues from the couple of lavish box sets of the album that surfaced last year, and it looks like Bowie is still fully immersed in that period. In addition to the app, a Golden Years EP will be issued, which will include the original track plus remixes by a number of DJs.
