Dave Grohl’s Hometown Erects 900-Pound Drumsticks In His Honor

How do you honor one of the greatest rock n’ roll drummers in history? With a ton of drumsticks. A literal ton.

Warren, Ohio will pay tribute to perhaps their most famous native by erecting two 900-pound drumsticks in honor of Dave Grohl. The Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters frontman already has an alley in the town bearing his name, where the drumsticks will soon be permanently installed. But first, they’ll be unveiled to the public at the River Rock at the Amp concert series at Warren Amphitheater this Saturday. Built from enormous poplar logs, the oversized sticks will feature carved patterns designed to echo the tattoos on Grohl’s arms. No word on whether the man himself will be present for the revealing of his own personal monument, but as the Foos don’t have a concert booked until August, there’s a decent possibility Grohl will swing by the old haunt.

What’s your take on the towering sticks: fitting tribute or tacky tourist bait?
