Dave Grohl is reported to be at the helm of a documentary about Sound City Studios, which has hosted recordings by Nirvana, Tom Petty, Nine Inch Nails, Eric Clapton, and a slew of other artists. REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin, who has recorded there too, revealed the project to Artisan News.
“Dave is working on this project based on a studio that we all used to work at. I probably shouldn’t be talking about it-- Dave will probably announce it. But it’s very cool,” Cronin says. Sound City Studios is “where they recorded Nevermind, and I know it means a lot to a lot of artists. So Dave is just kind of putting together something to get the stories that all the artists had about that studio.”
Nothing has been officially announced yet but the prospect is exciting enough for Nirvana fans, who can rejoice that coverage on the 20th anniversary of Nevermind is still in effect.
