'Dark Was The Night' Proceeds Diverted To Haiti

Last year Aaron and Bryce Dessner of the National helped the Red Hot Organization put together the excellent Dark Was the Night compilation, which featured songs from the Decemberists, Arcade Fire, My Morning Jacket, Bon Iver, and many other notable indie music names. At the time of its release the proceeds from Dark were intended to benefit AIDS awareness and the fight against the disease worldwide.

In the wake of the terrible tragedy in Haiti, Red Hot has announced a $150,000 grant - pulled from the Dark Was the Night funds - will be given to Partners in Health, an organization that has been working in Haiti for roughly 20 years, and with the grant will now be better equipped to provide immediate assistance to the disaster-struck region. I still can't believe what's going on down there. Tragic.
