This reminds me of a Ne-Yo track except that it sounds like it took more than 30 minutes to make, probably won't end up as a strip club anthem, and doesn't limit itself to the 12-17 female demographic.However, I do have a lurking paranoia that all the coke, crack, and whatever else D was smoking for the past seven years has messed up his voicebox. Unfortunately, this song does not put that fear to rest. It sounds good, but this is some low key crooning even by D'Angelo's standards. All things considered, this is a fresh breath of air for a stale R&B/Soul genre (not counting the hybrid electro-soul genre).

I'll take that over 90% of what is being categorized as R&B. Put the album out already D'. It's been 7 years...
