Courtney Taylor-Taylor has never been one for modesty. Remember the "I sneeze and hits come out" line from Dig? Well now apparently T-T and the rest of his Dandy Warhols must think they have quite the legacy to tout. The band will stage what they're calling a "two hour career retrospective set from 12 years of rock and roll history" March 3rd at the Wiltern in L.A. Tickets go on sale Saturday on LiveNation. Surely the band won't be playing such a long set when they appear the night before at Noise Pop.
The sad thing about this band is that when dude started it he probably actually was already thinking about such a self-righteous idea that deep into the future. This band sucks. Always has and always will. Dig! pretty much exposed them as an indie-rock version of a boy band only without the fat bastard manager who would help blow their nose for them for the hits to come out. Anyone can blow hits out of their nose but this dry, wintery, Midwestern blood snot that has been appearing in my tissues the past several weeks are better than anything this band has put out in the past several years. And, no, Anton did not put me up to this. If L.A. has any balls they won't show up for this concert. Or if they just have half a sack they will show up and just chant "Bohemian Like You" after every song and, then, once they play it, leave and go see your friends band at some art gallery who are probably making way more interesting music and actually care about it (and you) too.

Damn. Such vitriol. Despite the snarky tone of the post, I'm actually a bit of a fan of the band. I really didn't buy into either side of the dichotomy that Dig tried to set up. The Dandies seem much too slack to be careerist, and BJM seemed more complete douchebags than misunderstood artists.

Dig! didn't have to do any pegging of the band as careerist to make it fact (even if the "documentary" was voiced by them and also biased in grossly unethical ways*). If you ask anyone who were around them at the time and knew them even peripherally you would get the same story: the Dandy Warhols were careerist from the get go. People all saw it coming and damn if they didn't do a decent job of getting it done. After all, they still have some people who like the band a bit. Just kidding, JZ. We all have our guilty pleasures. Just promise me, if you are from LA, you won't pay anymore than the cost of a single DW album to go see this masturbatory geek show.*http://www.brianjonestownmassacre.com/dig_statement.html
