Dan Deacon Went to a Toasters Show, Probably

Remember, like, forever ago when the Bravery ( who? ) and The Killers got into that whole kerfuffle because Brandon Flowers said Sam Endicott used to be in a ska band? If you don't, that's fine (that memory is taking up space in my brain that could really be put to better use), but the point is, the ska allegation has really come into its own as far as intended insults go. But who among us would ever have thought we'd see Dan Deacon embroiled in a ska ndal? (Sorry.) A page at Channel 59  features 10-year-old photos of an awkward teen Deacon back in his Long Island ska days -- performing on stage, wearing a pork pie hat and presumably skankin' up a storm and pick it up! -ing across the island. I guess it's kinda embarassing but, whatever. I've been to one too many Hepcat shows and listened to Club Ska '67 waaaaaay too many times in this life to judge. Glass houses, you know? [Stereogum]
