As we reported this past January, Dan Deacon worked closely with Francis Ford Coppola to score the director’s upcoming film, TWIXT. And this Saturday, July 23, those of you attending Comic-Con will see a preview of the film Coppola described as “one part Gothic romance, one part personal film, and one part the kind of horror film that began my career.” The director and Deacon will present TWIXT and explain what a press release calls “the interactive experience of the film,” which uses both 2-D and 3-D. Sounds…crazy/interesting.
In other Deacon news, he is reissuing two early records — 2003’s Meetle Mice and Silly Hat Vs. Eagle Hat — featuring music made while he was in high school and college. It was a time when he was apparently first learning how to make music on computers. Deacon said that he “wrote them for fun” and never planned “on doing anything with them at that the time or expecting them to be heard outside of my circle of friends.” Well that certainly changes this September when both albums will be reissued. Oh, and on top of all that, he’s also hitting the road in the coming months.
You can view tour dates and stream “My Own Face Is F Word” and “Spring” from Meetle Mice and Silly Hat Vs. Eagle Hat, respectively, below. Both reissues drop Sept. 13 on Carpark Records.
