Dan Ackroyd Says Bill Murray Will Not Be In Ghostbusters 3, Scuttles Most Interest In The Film

Dan Ackroyd, a.k.a. Ray Stantz in the Ghostbusters universe, stated in a recent interview with Metro that Bill Murray will not be involved with a proposed third film in the franchise. Ackroyd went on to offer the following explanation/ apology: “It’s sad but we’re passing it on to a new generation.” and “Ghostbusters 3 can be a successful movie without Bill. We have to move on. It’s time to make the third one.” Though the fact remains that what really killed the Ghostbusters was the sequel, which featured a lot of slime and Peter Macnicol playing the Wicked Witch of the West, even the near bulletproof Murray might take some heat over bowing out. What fans probably should take from this statement is that if the coolest guy in the franchise isn’t down, it’s probably another Crystal Skull/Attack of the Clones situation. [Vulture]
