The Runaways biopic just got a whole lot cuter/annoying--Dakota Fanning, aka the girl that single-handedly made Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds unwatchable via her incessant high-pitched screaming, has signed on to play Cherie Currie, the singer for the legendary female punk band. Fanning, who is 15, is the same age as Currie was when she started singing in the band, so that part makes sense, but I can't imagine the biopic goes much further that The Runaways formation since Fanning playing a 25-year-old Currie would be like Ving Rhames playing Little Bo Peep (wait, I actually would pay to see that). 

The film, which is going to start filming soon, has Twilight's Kristen Stewart signed on to play Joan Jett. [The Playlist]
