Cut Copy Announce Name Of New Album: ‘Zonoscope’

Cut Copy, purveyors of “bouncy, swirly electro-pop anthems and shoegaze-inspired indie classics,” as Prefix’s Jen Zipf said in her review of the trio’s excellent In Ghost Colours (2008), announced today in an interview with Spin that its next record will be entitled Zonoscope. The album, scheduled to be released in the United States on Feb. 11, will be the Australian trio’s first since In Ghost Colours. As yet, all we have to go on is the album cover (shown above): an image by Japanese artist Tsunehisa Kimura, who was best known for his photo montages. In the interview, band member Tim Hoey said the image “summed up what we wanted to get across.” To understand what that means, exactly, it seems we’ll have to wait until February. [Spin]
