The Cure's North American tour: back on in May

For a band whose fans might not be the most emotionally stable people on the planet, The Cure sure has sent its followers on quite a roller coaster in recent months. First Robert Smith and company announced a massive North American tour for this fall. Then the band nixed those dates, saying it wanted more time to finish up its new album. And now The Cure has announced the rescheduled dates for those shows. Don't get too anticipatory, though; the tour is still more than half a year away, as it doesn't get underway until May. It seems the Cure's plans had to be set back even later since many of the stadiums they wanted to play were holding on to certain dates in case the NBA teams that play in them make the playoffs. Ah, the goths and the jocks still butting heads. It's like high school never ended!

Fans of the Cure aren't emotionally stable? I talked to your therapist John and he's more worried about you, I think. Cure fans were doing fine last night at the Patriot Center, a mix of old and young. Cure fans are, essentially, pop fans, rock fans, and, yeah, there are some goths in the mix and they dress in black and wear eye shadow and weird hair. I think they do that to scare you more than to express any inner angst.
