Cure Fans May Have Less Reason to Mope in 2011

Leave it to a former bandmate to spill the beans about your future plans. Former Cure keyboardist Lol Tolhurst, who was canned after Disintegration, apparently still communicates with Robert Smith and told L.A. radio station KXLU 88.9 recently that the band's  frontman "promised [Tolhurst] that ‘In Orange’ will be out on DVD in 2011. Also said that work continues on The Cure @ the BBC box set and that should also be out next year.”

'In Orange' refers to the The Cure in Orange, a 1987 concert film that has gone as far as laserdisc release and is now reaching Chinese Democracy levels of delay (ok, well not that extreme). Still, while fans pining for Orange may be disappointed yet again next year, there are other Cure releases that will likely see the light of day in 2011 to soothe their wounded hearts. Among them are a reissue of 1990's Mixed Up, the Cure at the BBC box set and even perhaps a reunion tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of 1981's funereal Faith. Knowing Smith, though, don't hold your breath for the last one. [via CoS and Slicing Up Eyeballs]

Mixed Up has no need to be reissued. They should just skip straight to Wish (which, no matter what haters say, I think is a fantastic album--"Friday I'm In Love" and all).

Mixed Up is amazing. Agree about Wish. Friday I'm in Love feels a bit out of place, but the 2nd half of that album is classic.
